The Story of Johjo Design

​

British born artist Johanna Wood, studied a Printed Textile Design and Fine Art Degree at Farnham, Surrey, graduating with distinction. After graduating Johanna worked as a textile design colourist for an interior textiles company, later going on to work as an Interior Designer for residential clients, furnishing luxury apartments in some of London's newest luxury central and riverside developments.

She has continued to be prolific in the creation of her own art producing works in a wide variety of materials and techniques from painting, drawing, printing, collage work, silk painting, fabric dyeing, murals,  specialist paint effects and unusual surfaces such as glass, carved plaster work, decorative mosaics, many are for architectural interior and exterior projects, including decorative pieces in garden design installation. 

Johanna designs exquisite bespoke, hand painted glass panels for luxurious interior projects such as kitchen and bathroom splashbacks, glass room dividers and decorative wall art.

Much of Johanna's personal work has been inspired by the time she spends in North Devon where she loves to explore and record the ever changing beach and sea life, watching the ocean waves, the tides, vast skies and the often dramatic Atlantic weather.

​

With her experiential learning of growing up surrounded by the natural world, Johanna considers herself a Biophilic artist and designer, an ambassador and lover of all nature. The natural world holds the key to our intellect, safeguarding and physiologically improving our whole well being, so through art Johanna translates and manifests this into her design work for residential, leisure, hospitality and working environments.

In addition to interior work Johanna creates unique ART FOR GARDENS which add textural focal points and shapely installations to any garden design scheme. Perfect for the smallest to largest and grandest of gardens, to make a statement on a large wall, perhaps fill an awkward corner, or create an entrance to the approach of your home and front door. Many textures, patterns and colour combinations available to design.

Johanna also has a passion for FIGURE DRAWING and photography. She uses all her artistic skills to create and interpret the connection between mind, body and art. She skillfully captures the femininity and sexuality of a woman’s figure. Her art expresses the strength of connection, feeling, shape, mood, movement and pose which transcends naturally into very sensual art.

This empowers self respect.

Her work in this area brings to life the evocative story of both the delicate and powerful feelings of femininity.

Painted studies of art work and photography below are by Johanna. Standing in the shallow waters on the shore, watching the ebb and flow of the ocean waves, fragments of light dance on the surface, while absorbing the sounds and motion all around.
